There is so much spirit in a work “Life”. Each person travels over long way. For ones, life is easy, but for others it suffused of obstacles and difficulties. And all this time we learn something and improve ourselves.
Technical equipment also travels over this way. Using an example, we will tell you how the Triol power cells have become better and more practical.
We started developing power cells far back in the past exactly in 2010. In 2011 - the first prototype of the AT27 frequency drive was manufactured. In 2012, the product was shipped and put into commission. As of now, more than 200 AT27 VFDs have been produced and are in operation. And now we can safely take a dive into development history.
Contingently, we divide 4 generations of power cells:
1 - Power cells AT27 (2011 - 2013): Cell resource - 40 - 50 thousand hours. The voltage is 660 V. Design features: built-in bypass of cells based on IGBT transistors with backup power supply and electrolytic capacitors.
2 - Power cells PC27-xxx-066-BN-1 (2013 - 2015): Cell resource - 40-50 thousand hours. The voltage is 690 V. Built-in bypasses of cells based on IGBT transistors with backup power supply and electrolytic capacitors. Due to design solutions, we achieved a reduction in detachable joints and reduced weight and size characteristics. From these cells, serial production with increased reliability of electronics units started.
3 - Power cells PC27-xxx-071-x-x (2015 - 2019):Cell resource - 50 thousand hours. The voltage is 710 V. The electrolytic capacitors were replaced with polypropylene ones and the built-in bypass was refused. This made it possible to increase the resource of the power cells.
4 - Power cells PC27-xxx-074-x-x (from 2019): Cell resource - 100 thousand hours. The voltage is 740 V. Bypass option using HOpCoD technology. Film capacitors. Thanks to technical solutions, the weight and size characteristics were reduced and the reliability index increased.
Over the years, we have strived to improve the quality and reliability of our products and have achieved:

Increased resource of power cells (refused the usage of electrolytic capacitors in favour of film and aluminium polymer)

Increased reliability (no false alarms of IGBTs, failure of their internal power supply, improved enclosure of rectifier diodes)

Improved operating indicators (put into practice overvoltage protection in power circuits, eliminated false alarms of power switches from induced interference, got rid of overheating of charging resistors to start a switching power supply)

Reduced weight and size characteristics
Triol Corporation doesn`t offer the bypass power cells in the basic version of the power cells. But it can be installed optionally. You can learn more about bypassing power cells using HOpCoD technology in the following publications.
