Before the Variable Speed Drive (VSD) Triol AK06 starts its work with submersible electric motors on the well, it goes through the adjustment procedure according to the Program and the acceptance test method.
On a fully assembled station, the general electrical parameters and the operability of the control system are checked. Experienced commissioning engineers test the installation of electrical connections. With the help of measuring equipment, it is necessary to check the integrity of the "vessels and capillaries" through which the electric current will flow, to measure the insulation resistance and its strength.
During testing the strength of the insulation, the VSD is connected to a special installation, the voltage is applied first to 2500 V, and then to 7500 V, and is kept for one minute at each voltage value.
The device should not record insulation breakdown, because it can lead to a short circuit and, as a consequence, a failure at the well. Further, in the "brain" of the Variable Speed Drive - the UMKA controller, engineers put "awareness" - special software. Then the VSD is " liven up" - connected to the mains.
After “birth”, skills and talents are put into the VSD - “factory settings”, these are all the necessary parameters by which it will work in reality. Further, the VSD needs pumped "muscles" - stress tests.
This procedure is similar to a hard training of an athlete, the Variable Speed Drive works in all modes and fulfills all the functional tasks with which it will have to work in the well. Enclosure testing is a separate and very important procedure. The VSD must be taught how to act in case of a failure. This will ensure that it doesn`t break down itself and the installation that it controls, and also ensures the safety of personnel in the event of mistakes. For example, if a well operator opens the VSDs door during operation, the speed drive will shut down. This is necessary because the Variable Speed Drive has bare busbars inside. Additional enclosure is the installation of electrical insulating screens made of fiberglass or polycarbonate glass.
The final stage of adjustment is learning to "see" and "hear" the world around and interact with it. All analog and digital inputs and outputs are programmable and tested. And this is not a complete list of procedures that are necessary for accurate and reliable control of an electric motor in a well in real conditions! Continuation in our next materials!
